Don’t Just Remember That He Died

Read Luke 22:19–20

(19) And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” (20) In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.” Luke 22:19–20

Jesus didn’t simply ask us to remember that He died.

He wants us to remember why He died.

He died because sin separates us from God.
He died because we could never save ourselves.
He died because He loves us.

His body was broken.
His blood was poured out.

So we could be forgiven.
So we could have peace with God.
So we could have eternal life.

That’s why communion matters.

And that’s why the resurrection matters too.

Because Jesus didn’t stay in the grave.

He walked out victorious over sin, death, and hell.

And because of that…

Hope is alive.
