Remember Why

Read Luke 22:19–20

(19) And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” (20) In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.” Luke 22:19–20

Today, people all across our country are remembering sacrifice.

Not just that people died.

But why they died.

Because when you understand the “why” behind a sacrifice, it changes everything.

And Jesus knew we would need help remembering that too.

That’s why He gave us communion.

Not just as a religious ritual.
Not just as a church tradition.

But a reminder.

A reminder that His body was broken for us.
A reminder that His blood was poured out for us.
A reminder that the cross was personal.

For us.

Today’s Question:
Have I drifted into remembering that Jesus died while forgetting why it matters?

Today’s Challenge:
Spend a few quiet minutes today thanking Jesus specifically for what His sacrifice means for your life personally.

Today’s Prayer:
“Jesus, help me never grow numb to the cross. Remind me again why You willingly gave Your life for me.”

Weekly Memory Verse:
“…Do this in remembrance of me.” Luke 22:19
