Don’t Build Your Life on Temporary Things

Read Ecclesiastes 12:8

(8) “Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher. “Everything is meaningless!”* Ecclesiastes 12:8

“Meaningless! Meaningless! Everything is meaningless!”

That sounds depressing at first.

But Solomon isn’t saying life has no meaning.

He’s saying life apart from God has no lasting meaning.

Because everything this world offers eventually fades.

Success fades.
Money fades.
Popularity fades.
Achievements fade.

Of course, deep down, most of us already know this.

That’s why you can achieve something you thought would finally satisfy you and still feel empty afterward.

Because your soul was never designed to be filled by temporary things.

It was designed for God.

Today’s Question:
What temporary thing am I depending on for lasting fulfillment?

Today’s Challenge:
Pay attention today to what consumes most of your thoughts, energy, and emotions.

Today’s Prayer:
“Jesus, help me stop building my life around things that won’t last and start building my life around You.”

Weekly Memory Verse:
“Remember your Creator in the days of your youth…” Ecclesiastes 12:1
