Jesus Finds People

Read John 1:43

(43) The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, “Follow me.”

-

John tells us something fascinating in this passage.

Jesus finds Philip.

Philip didn’t find Jesus.

Philip wasn’t searching.
Philip wasn’t asking questions.
Philip wasn’t trying to figure out the meaning of life.

Instead, Jesus moved toward him.

And the same thing is true for every one of us.

None of us discovered Jesus on our own.

Jesus pursued us first.

Maybe through a friend.
Maybe through a sermon.
Maybe through a difficult season that forced you to start asking deeper questions.

But behind all of it was Jesus moving toward you.

And if you are following Him today, it’s only because He found you first.

-

Today’s Question: When did I first realize Jesus was pursuing me?

Today’s Challenge: Take a few minutes today to thank God for the people and moments He used to draw you to Himself.

Today’s Prayer: Jesus, thank You for pursuing me even when I wasn’t looking for You. Help me never forget the grace that found me.
