Belief Demands Response

Read Acts 8:36–38

As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?” And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him.

-

After hearing about Jesus, the Ethiopian eunuch sees water and asks, “What can stand in the way of my being baptized?”

He doesn’t delay.
He doesn’t negotiate.
He doesn’t say, “Let me think about it.”

He says, essentially, “Let’s go.”

That’s what happens when belief turns into conviction.

Belief demands response.

So, if you have believed but never publicly declared that allegiance, you are standing where this man once stood.

Nothing stood in his way.

And nothing stands in yours.

Today’s Question: Have I moved from information about Jesus to full surrender to Jesus?

Today’s Challenge: If you’ve never been baptized after surrendering to Christ, begin that step this week. Don’t delay obedience.

Today’s Prayer: Jesus, I don’t want to just believe facts about You. I want to belong fully to You. Give me courage to respond.
