Go Near

Read Acts 8:29–31

The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.”

Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked.

“How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

The Spirit doesn’t say, “Preach.”
He doesn’t say, “Convert.”
He says, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.”

Sometimes obedience starts with proximity.

Before Philip ever speaks, he runs.
Before he explains, he listens.
Before he teaches, he asks a question.

“Do you understand what you are reading?”

That question opened a door.

You don’t need a script.
You don’t need a sermon outline.
You don’t need to have all the answers.

Sometimes you just need to go near.

To stay close.
To listen.
To care.

God is already at work in people’s hearts. He may just be asking you to step closer.

Today’s Question: Is there someone I’ve been keeping my distance from when God is asking me to go near?

Today’s Challenge: Start one simple spiritual conversation this week. Ask a thoughtful question instead of delivering a speech.

Today’s Prayer: Holy Spirit, make me sensitive to Your nudges. Give me courage to step closer instead of staying comfortable.
