It’s Okay to Admit You’re Not Okay

Read 1 Kings 19:4

(4) While he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, he came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.” 1 Kings 19:4

Elijah just experienced the biggest moment of his life.

Fire fell from heaven.
God showed up in power.
Everything went exactly how you’d hope it would go.

And the very next chapter?

“I’ve had enough, Lord.”

Same man.
Same God.
Completely different moment.

That’s important.

Because some of us think if we’re following God, we shouldn’t feel like this.

We shouldn’t feel overwhelmed.
We shouldn’t feel discouraged.
We shouldn’t feel like quitting.

But Elijah did.

Which means this:

Feeling overwhelmed doesn’t make you weak.
It makes you human.

Today’s Question: Where in my life do I feel like saying, “I’ve had enough”?

Today’s Challenge: Say it honestly to God today. Don’t filter it. Don’t clean it up.

Today’s Prayer: “God, I’m tired. I don’t have it all together. Help me bring my real thoughts and feelings to You.”

Weekly Memory Verse: “…And after the fire came a gentle whisper.” 1 Kings 19:12
