Nobody Saw It Coming
Read John 20:1
(1) Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.
—
As Mary Magdalene walks to the tomb early that Sunday morning, she’s not expecting a miracle.
She’s not bringing celebration supplies.
She’s bringing burial spices.
She’s not walking toward the tomb with hope in her heart.
She’s walking there with tears in her eyes.
And that’s what makes Easter so powerful.
Nobody was standing outside the tomb counting down the seconds until Jesus walked out.
The resurrection was a complete surprise.
Which reminds us of something important: God often works in ways we don’t expect.
Sometimes we think the story is over.
Sometimes we think the situation is hopeless.
Sometimes we think nothing good can come from what we’re facing.
And then God does something we never saw coming.
—
Today’s Question:
Where in my life have I assumed the story is already over?
Today’s Challenge:
Bring that situation honestly to God today and ask Him to remind you that He specializes in resurrection moments.
Today’s Prayer:
Lord, when I feel like hope is gone, remind me that You are still working even when I cannot see it.
