You Don’t Belong Here

Read 1 Peter 2:11

(11) Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. 1 Peter 2:11

Peter begins with an interesting reminder.

He calls believers “foreigners and exiles.”

In other words…

This world isn’t your home.

Now, this doesn’t mean we withdraw from culture.

It means we don’t let culture shape us.

Our values are different.
Our priorities are different.
Our hope is different.

So, if you ever feel like following Jesus makes you stand out a little…

You’re not necessarily doing it wrong.

Because that’s exactly what Peter expected.

The goal isn’t to fit in.

The goal is to faithfully follow Jesus wherever He has placed you.

Today’s Question:
Am I blending into the world or standing out because I belong to Jesus?

Today’s Challenge:
Before you leave your house today, remind yourself: “I represent Jesus wherever I go.”

Today’s Prayer:
“Father, help me remember that my identity is found in You. Give me the courage to live differently in a world that desperately needs You.”

Weekly Memory Verse:
“Live such good lives among the pagans that… they may see your good deeds and glorify God.” 1 Peter 2:12
